How to Apply

We are part of the Partners in Education (PIE) school administered by the Powell River Board of Education (SD47).

Registration at Island Discovery is ongoing throughout the year. 

We offer the choice of attending a Blended Program or Full-time Home-based Learning Program.

Key details:

  • Families can live anywhere in B.C. and take part in our home-based learning option.
  • Part-time classroom participation in blended programs is only available in select locations.

Please follow these steps:

Step 1: Consultation

Initial Call: Please direct all inquiries to the coordinator of your program of choice (see our locations for contact information).

For home-based learning, please call the Bowen Island office.

It is important to ensure you are a good fit for the program and that the program is a good fit for you.  Our staff are able to thoroughly answer your questions and explain the parameters of each program.

Step 2: Learn About IDLC

If you are interested in one of our Blended programs, talk with us about scheduling a visit for you and your child, including a possible 1-2 day trial.

For Home-based learning programs, you’ll have the chance to speak with our Principal.

Step 3: Registration Checklist

To make your application to Island Discovery smooth and stress-free, please take time to review our application checklist. It will help you fill out the registration form, prepare supporting documents and submit a complete application.

Step 4: Complete the Online Registration Form

To begin your application, you will need to complete the online registration form on the SD47 School Board website. However, we strongly recommend you review our checklist before starting to fill it out.
